Mera man
Posting my other poem today. Again it is all about ups and downs, likes and dislikes and many mixed feelings which I usually feel in this phase of life. Some says it is due to my age but I really do not think so. I think this confusion will always remain for me. I think that there is no any phase in life when someone says "Ok this is what I wanted and now I am satisfied". But still you never know. Please have a read
???????????????????Mera man kyon???????????????????
Mera man kyon bhatkaya jaaye ni maaye,
Mera man kyon.....
Kade age nu eh jaanda,
Kade piche di eh soche,
Khaure adhi adhi raati uth kis nu eh loche,
Katon aj di na samajh ehnu aave ni maaye,
Mera man kyon.....
Kade milne nu kare,
Kade vichadana chahunda,
Kade kale hi eh beh ke rehnda geet gungunaonda,
Hun changi kyon lagdi judaayi ni maaye,
Mera man kyon.....
Kade rishte banaunda,
Kade door othon bhaje,
Kade pehli mulaakati haye lakhan khwab kaje,
Kyon na samjhe eh gallan di gehrai ni maaye,
Mera man kyon.....
Kade hasne nu kare,
Kade ghaman val dole,
Kyon eh khushian de vich hun gham nu farole,
Hun khushian ton kyon katraaye ni maaye,
Mera man kyon.....
Kade sab kuch jaane,
Kade kuch vi na aave,
Aje kuch ni aaunda ehnu kaun samjhave,
Kyo nikki jehi sojh te itraave ni maaye,
Mera man kyon.....
Kade paana sab chahe,
Kade kuch vi na mange,
Uhnan rahaan valon jaave jithon kade vi naa lange,
Koi cheez hun dil na lubhaye ni maaye,
Mera man kyon.....
Chad shayra ve tere das kaun akhe lage,
Ihnaan khayalan nu eyon soch kyon ne hanju vehan lage,
Bas razaa vich rehnaa ehnu aaje ni maaye,
Mera man kyon.....
Mera man kyon bhatkaya jaaye ni maaye,
Mera man kyon.....
Mera man kyon.....
Mera man kyon.....

When a Tree Shook Delhi

Today writing my first book review(sort of). First of all I must tell that I am not a writer. I am just a reader giving my own views.
Coming back the name of this book which I just completed is "When a tree shook Delhi-The 1984 Carnage and its aftermath" by Manoj Mitta and H S Phoolka. As it is clear the book is about one of India's worst shame i.e. 1984 riots in our capital. This book provides a useful detail of what happened in those terrible 3 days when the national capital descended into anarchy and India's
most self assured communities were hounded into submission. The name of this book is due to an infamous justification made by Rajiv Gandhi at this incident. His words were "When a mighty tree falls, it is only natural that the earth does shake a little".
In the first part of book the writers give a detailed description of what happened in those 3 days actually after death of Indira Gandhi on 31 October 1984.3 days in which about 2733 sikhs were killed by none other than our people. This explanation narrates many incidents like:
- How administration was unable to handle this situation in the capital itself.
- How politics and police played a game with lives of those people.
- How the ones who were protecting themselves were disarmed and then left for the riot mobs.
- How a war hero of 1971 war was humilated by police.
In second part, the main writer Mr. H.S. Phoolka gives an explaination of his journey from 1984 to now. How he himself with many other members started a Citizen Justice Committee(CJC) in order to give justice to victims. It also puts light on the working of all the enquiry commissions involved in this case. Some of the incidents are really embarassing like signing of Anti-Victim
affidavits even without there knowledge, asking humiliating questions to victims, keeping press out of each enquiry commission and working of whole enquiry as a Camera enquiry within a camera enquiry.
It also puts light on role of some political leaders in this carnage and how they were rewarded instead of being punished in there parties. Though some of them got punished but after a long time and it is a saying that "Justice delayed is a justice denied". During this whole struggle, some of the moments of relief or so called mercy for those victims families were when govt. increased the compensation amount and the second was when on 11 August 2005(when Nanavati Commission Report was presented), Prime Minister Manmohan Singh gave an emotionally stirring speech with an apology to sikh community saying 1984 incident as a negation of concept of nationhood.
At the end I will say that this book is a sincere effort to give us details of this incident which is a shame on us. Everyone should read it to understand this dark side of our democracy to learn lessons for building and sustaining a plural India. But still we are not learning. We are still facing incidents like Babri Masjid, Godhra, Mumbai and Jalandhar one in June this year. At that times we do not have any terrorists. These are incidents when an Indian kills an Indian and more importantly a human kills a human. But we have to decide which way to go. We consider ourself a secular country but still we all divide ourself according to our religions, our communities or our social groups. No any religion advises us to fight with others but we always do the same which is really shameful and painful. and what we really need to learn is one religion above all. The religion of "HUMANITY".

----------------------IKAALA------------------------------
Haan haan ikaala mein,

Phir ik humsafar mil gaya,Eyon laga chale nu chala mil gaya,
Ik mile si bache saanu,Jo si rab da roop jeha lage,

Vichoda
This one is again one of my small poems. The poem's name is "Vichoda". And it is about those feelings when someone very close of us departs from this world. I have seen some of these departures in my life of some dear ones and have seen that how badly it effects but still probably this is done by god in order to teach us a lesson. The lesson that "As we entered this world with nothing, we are destined to leave this world with nothing". So what to worry for???
----------------------VICHODA--------------
Vaise taan ne dukh bade chandre jahaan wich,
Dukhan sukhaan naal bane jindagi de dhaan wich,
Par ik dukh jehda vaje vang kode de,
Bade maade dukh ne sajna vichode de,
Jiven kise machi kolon paani khoh leya hove,
Jiven kise panchi kolon haani khoh leya hove,
Injh lage jiven ke naseeb so gaya hove,
Jiven baazi haari chatranj vale mohre ne,
Bade maade dukh ne sajna vichode de,
Baar baar fir yaaro sajnan di yaad aaye,
Ohdi pyaari yaad akhan wich hanju layee aave,
Fir taan har cheej bas ose di kahaani bole,
Mano jaan na mano phir tasvir vi purani bole,
Phir nikalde ohdi yaad vich nihore ne,
Bade maade dukh ne sajna vichode de,
Fir hauli hauli banda zindagi ch ram jaanda,
Fir yaaro sabh kuch jitan lai jam jaanda,
Bhul jaanda sabh kuch jis nu yaad kita si,
Jihdi yaad wich ghut hijran daa peeta si,
Chad dila tere lai na kise ne vi rona hai,
Eh pakhand taan bas char din hona hai,
Agge kehda jindagi de dukh bade thaude ne,
Bade maade dukh ne sajna vichode de,
Rab di vee yaaro eh reet badi nayaari hai,
Ohi cheez khoh lenda jo sabh ton pyaari hai,
Lagda oh dasda ke har cheez parayi hai,
Jihnu kahen aapne tu oh teinu chad jaayegi,
Man yaan na man maut teri vi jaroor aayegi,
Sachi eh jindagi de sach bade khaure ne,
Soch soch asi vi likhde haan kaagaj kore te,
Bade maade dukh ne sajna vichode de,
Bade maade dukh ne sajna vichode de,
Bade maade dukh ne sajna vichode de,

This time I again thought to write about an Artist. There are some things which you observe in your life and you say "WOW". This is one of that kind for me. I come to know about this artist from my SUCHI DIDI(A big thanks to her). She recommended me to watch one of his video. And then I became a big fan of this guy. The guy is "Satinder Sartaaj", a new punjabi sufi singer. Though not much known till now, but surely a big artist of future.First let me tell you about his life:
Satinder Sartaaj born at village Bajrawar, distt. Hoshiarpur (Punjab eastern). His Schooling was from his own village and nearby villages Chabbewal & Patti. He started performing at the Bal-Sabhas when was in Class 3rd. After that he join graduation at Govt. college, Hoshiarpur with Music Honours. Side by side he join Sangeet Visharad, a five year diploma in classical music from Jallandhar. After completing his Graduation and Diploma Satinder went to Panjab University Campus at Chandigarh for Masters in Music. He has done M.Phil. and Ph.D. with the Specialisation of Sufi Music.During this time he started writing Poetry and make his poetic name SARTAAJ. Now Dr. Satinder Sartaaj is Teaching at the Deptt. of Music, Panjab University Chandigarh from last six years. A lover of nature,Sartaaj has dedicated several of his compositions to Nature because from the beginning he was drawn the beauty and fragrance of flowers, rainbows, tranquil flow of the water creating rhythmic pattern.Once you listen to him you will feel that The pure magic of simplicity, his command on poetry , the tonal beauty of his voice, mesmerizing is like a clear water stream going down the hill. Simple is always beautiful. But to be so simple and honest, lots of hard work behind it.He is already a big name in his field and has won many awards. No doubt he is named as "Waris Shah of today". He is a man who will definitely reach the unreachable heights soon. I wish he gets all the success in his life.
And now about one of his album named "Mehfil-e-Sartaaj". It has 8 tracks and each track is so pure that you will love to listen it again and again.
1.Ammi- This one is a beautiful song about mother and her love for her children. Sartaaj has sung it in a beautifal way.
"Duniya te sukh sabar shanti taan hai,` kyonki sabna kol amuli maa hai,
taap chade sir pattiyan kardi ammi hai, dukh saade lekhan de jardi ammi hai"
2.Dil- This one is also very beautiful where Sartaj compares the life of childhood and now. Very well written.
"Kade piplan de pateyaan di pipni banauni,
Kade khad darwazen di dholki vajauni,
Hun nagma sarangiyaan da shor ho gaya,
Dil pehlan jeha nahin reha eh kathor ho gaya,
Take duniya de rang thoda hor ho gaya"
3.Je Koi- This is a different style of song. A little fast paced and this proves that how good Sartaaj is in his singing and again mind blowing lyrics.
"Shayari da ghar door Satindra, Gayaki otho dooni,
Lale dhuuni je manjil chooni,
Kidan geet likhenga gaggar lafazan vaali ooni, Pyaar vihuuni, soch alooni,
Hun tu aape das ke kidan paaloo khichke bhangra banda langra,
Lokan nu ki devega khud hi jehda mangra"
4.Mann Kun To- One more beautiful song. Again good lyrics and brilliant singing. This song has a real spiritual touch.
"Kaazi soyee jo shara vich hoye kayaam,
Te gayak soi jo gale wich taan hove,
Shuru soi jo Rab da naam hove,
Te khatam soi jo naal imaan hove"
5.Motiya- This song proves that how good Satinder knows about Punjabi Culture. It has names of almost all the flowers. Many lines are brilliantly written like-
"Kankan de sitteyan de banuge clip, mein udikda sunehari kadon hunde ni" or
"Jaana paina fir sanu Malwe de val,ke Duabe vich Ful nahin pakaide"
6.Paani- This is again good song about the change which comes when one moves from village to City. This song has sweet memories of Punjabi Villages
"Yaad rakhda Vaisakhi ohne vekhaya hunda je, Rang Kankan da hare ton sunehari ho gaya, Paani panjan Dariyaavan wali vairi ho gaya, Munda pind da si shehar jaa ke shehari ho gaya"
7. Sai- And now the best song of this album. Starting with one of Baint of Waris Shah the song takes you to other world. Each line has a very special meaning. Excellent Song. A must listen.
8. Vekhan Ge- This song is my second favourite song. It feels very close to my own life. It looks like Satinder is chatting with your heart.
"Bade chir to khande dhabe di, Ghare fulka foloo vekhange,
Aje ghada akal da oona hai, Jad bhar ke dullu vekhange"
At end I will only say that this album and this artist is a must listen. Please listen him once and I promise you, you will love to listen him again and again.

Meinu samajh naa aaye
Today posting my second poem named SAMAJH.This is a poem I have written from my own experiences. This is just my attempt to understand this so called "DUNIYA".But my attempts fail and I have to accept what Gurdas Maan Sir said in one of his songs:
"Sadh naal ki tenu chor na kee, Beh ke aapni naber tenu hor naal kee"
Frankly speaking this one was not much appreciated by my friends. May be because I somewhere failed to find proper words but I personally like it.
Please read it and give your suggestions because I need to improve.
---------------------SAMAJH--------------------
Meinu samajh naa aaye is duniya di samajh naa aaye,
Koi akhe Khuda mano,Koi kahe Ram-Ram,
Koi kahe hai Isa vada,Koi kahe Nanak da dham,
Je har dharam di eh sikh hai,
Ke rab sirf ik hai,
Phir kyon dilan ch eh fik hai,
Kyon rab de naa te aj kise da ghar fookeya jaave,
Meinu samajh naa aaye is duniya di samajh naa aaye,
Koi akhe sab hai moh-maaya,Koi akhe sab hai paraya,
Fir kyon hai is paise ne,aj sabh da hosh bhulaeya,
Je hai har koi jaanda kai paisa naal nahin jaana,
Jadon jaana is duniya ton bas khali hath hi jaana,
Fir kyon eh paisa aj sabh nu hai bharmave,
Meinu samajh naa aaye is duniya di samajh naa aaye,
Koi akhe kisan ucha jo duniya nu khawawe,
Koi kahe javaan he ucha jo saadi jaan bachave,
Koi taan "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan" da naara lave,
Phir kyon aj sabh ton jyaada kisan hi marda jaave,
Kyon ik javaan aapni kismat te pachtawe,
Eh kaisa insaaf hai koi taan meinu samjhave,
Meinu samajh naa aaye is duniya di samajh naa aaye,
Chad dila duniya di taan ehi hi kahaani hai,
Jithe jag muhre aaun ton darde ne,
Asal wich othe hi aani jaani hai,
Karna tu vee kuch nahin bas likhan hi joga hai,
Asal wich tu vi paaya jhuth wala choga hai,A
sal wich taan mera dil vi hai darda jaave,
Bhagat Singh aave aave, par mere ghar naa aave,
Meinu samajh naa aaye is duniya di samajh naa aaye,
Meinu samajh naa aaye is duniya di samajh naa aaye,
Meinu samajh naa aaye is duniya di samajh naa aaye

Kailasa
Hi,
Well another one. This time it is not my poem.I thought to write about one of my favourite personality and his new creation. It is about a brilliant singer and his album. The singer is Kailash Kher and his album "Kailasa Chandan Mein".
First about Kailash Kher:
I am his fan from his first hit "Allah ke bande"and now he’s almost everywhere, Whether it is Bollywood, advertising jingles, or his band ‘Kailasaa’. I feel his voice is the kind that touches souls. No wonder some says, ‘It’s the soul of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the voice of Kailash Kher.’ He was born in Meerut, lived his childhood in Delhi and set foot into the world of music at the age of twelve when he started learning Indian classical music. Before music, he tried his luck at business, but a couple of depressing, unsuccessful attempts took him to Southeast Asia for two years. Thereafter, he decided to move to Mumbai. He won his first advertising jingle for Nakshatra followed by several others like Hero Cycles and Chevrolet. It was all the way up from there and he finally bagged a Bollywood number ‘Rabba ishq na hove’ from the movie ‘Andaaz.’ Well, so far so good. But, it was not until the revolutionary hit ‘Allah ke Bande’ around end 2002 that he came to be as popular as he is today.
And now what I love about this guy is his simplicity.Surprisingly, unlike the typical present day celebrity, Kher leads a rather passive, non-fancy life. He follows a controlled form of life- no eating outside, no smoking, no drinking, no dope and conserving internal energy by speaking only when he’s spoken to. Coming from a middle class family, having no intentions of having the riches, he intends on letting his success not affect him or his work. God bless him.
And now about his new album "Kailasa Chaandan Mein":
Before this review, I must tell that I do not even know "m" of music. I am just a listener who loves brilliant lyrics. So please do not mind if I say something wrong. Comin back KAILASA is actually the band which comprises Kailash Kher and brothers Paresh and Naresh Kamath, has already proved themselves with there previous albums "Kailasa" and "Kailasa Jhoomo Re". And it doesn't disappoint in "Chaandan Mein" either - the music is soulful and soaked in folk influences, the lyrics are brilliant and Kailash Kher's voice is awesome as always.
1. The album starts with "Chaandan Mein", a soft and slow-paced track with a folk setting that gives a pleasant feel. Its brilliant video is also running on many channels.
2. Up next is a totally opposite, fun track titled "Na batati tu" that looks like a fusion of Indian and western arrangements, is high on energy and brilliantly sung by Kher. The song has a beautiful ending.
3. Then comes "Teri yaad mein" which is a beautiful number and creates a completely different mood. The steady pace of the song and the good lyrics make it an interesting hear.
4. Next in line is "Bheeg gaya mera mann", a song meant for the monsoons.
5. "Ishq ho gaya" is another brilliant song in the album that expresses the despair of a woman who has fallen in love.
6. Another song with an earthy flavour is "Piya ghar aavenge".Again a lady welcoming his love. BRILLIANT LYRICS once again
7. Next on the playlist is "Rang rangma". It again looks like a fusion. The song is not as interesting as the others in the album but still good one.
8. And now my favourite track in the album is "Kar kar mein haara". The song has great lyrics. And I love the way it starts with lines: "Yu to teri yaad mein bhi savaad hai tera,Par aankhon ko manaoon kis tarah, Hothon ki majaal ke kahaan kuch kahen,Par Dil ko main samjhaoon kis tarah."
9. Along with these tracks, the album also has two equally nice bonus tracks from the band's previous albums - "Albela saajan" from "Kailasa" and "Tere naina" from "Kailasa Jhoomo Re"
All in all I have loved this album. Hope you all will also enjoy it.

Story of Life
Posting my first poem, Hope you like it. I have tried to narrate whole life of a human being in some lines. Writing it in english here(not in PUNJABI) so that my friends who cannot read punjabi but can understand can also read it. I have already send this poem to my close friends and they have really liked that. Hope you all willl like it too.
------------------KAHAANI------------------------
Aaj vi e yaad meinu maa di khuai choori,
Pata hi na lagaa, oh umar kadon ho gayee pooree,
Agla daur jawani wala jadon bhakh gayee kahaani,
Is umaro daso mitro kis ne mauj nahin maani,
Is umare poora josh si,Jadon sanu naa koi hosh si,
Odon jo galteeyan kitian, Us wich kise da na dosh si,
Aaj ve e yaad meinu beliyan di oh dhaani,
khao pio mauj karo, odon si bas ehi kahaani,
Fir aa gaye asi adkhad umare jadon mathi payee kahaani,
Jadon kabeeldariyan payeean, odon asi surat pachani,
Eh umar vi kamaal hai,Jadon sir to jhadde baal ne,
Jado paise bacha ke gin ke nikalde saal ne,
Udon he khayal hunda bacheyan nu kuch banaun da,
Aapne rehan lai koi thikana jeha banaun da,
Aaakhri daur he budhi umare jadon khatam honi kahaani,
Hun taan bas sochda haan sari umar kidaan maani,
Jadon maut nede aayee hai,Har vele khani dawai hai,
Is umare hi mildi par pote poteyaan di vadhai hai,
Hun sochda haan ki khateya mein sari umar lake,
Paise ikathe kar kar ke aapna eh ghar bana ke,
Hun taan eh sabh kuch ethe hi he reh jaana,
Tere naal taan bas bandeya tere change kamaan jaana,
Tere naal taan bas bandeya tere change kamaan jaana,
Tere naal taan bas bandeya tere change kamaan jaana,

My first Blog
Today writing my first blog. I have not ever thought that I will do this. But life is strange.Read somewhere "Life does not gives you what you want but it gives you what you actually need".So probably this is what I need.I got idea of Blog writing from one of my friend ASHWANI when I told him what I actually want to do. Then I read BLOG of my another good friend VISHAD who is great in writing. Though I am not as good as him but still will try to give my best. But now when I have started I am still confused what to write about. But then coming back to my idea what I told to ASHWANI, I want to share some of the poems which I have written. But now I am thinking that "Who in this world will waste his/her time reading my poems?????". I just started writing around 4 months ago and I think I felt it as aneasy way to express my feelings. First I thought of keeping these poems a secret but then I thought how will I improve if I will not get any feedback???? And I have alway believed in KNOWLEDGE SHARING. The more you share, more you learn.Hopefully I will not bore you all there. Apart from poems I will also like to share some of my favourite songs having brilliant lyrics(I think) and to share experiences of my new hobby i.e.Book Reading. So please give me your valuable feedback ji.
Your friend,
BIKRAM
